HYMB Climbing Leader Training

(18 to 90 years old)
Prerequisites for the HYMB climbing leader are to have attained a teacher or youth leader award from a recognised organisation, to have logged evidence of at least 30 visits to artificial climbing walls, to have visited 3 different climbing walls, to have climbing experience on real rock and to hold a valid First Aid Certificate.

Evidence of the pre requisites is required with your application

Accreditation is based upon a one-day training course, a consolidation period and an assessment with your group.

HYMB Caving Leader Training
(18 to 90 years old)
Prerequisites for the HYMB caving leader are to have attained a teacher or youth leader award from a recognised organisation, have experience of real caving and to hold a valid First Aid Certificate.

The accreditation is based on a one-day training course, a consolidation period and a final assessment with your own group.

RYA Dinghy Sailing Assistant Instructor
(18 to 90 years old. First aid, Level 3 or Seamanship Skills + 1 years experience required)
The RYA Assistant Instructor is a qualification that can be gained by experienced sailors with the prerequisites of RYA Seamanship and First Aid Certificate. By the end of the course you will be competent to assist a RYA instructor at HYMB. To run a group at HYMB an assistant instructor is also required to have a RYA Power Boat Level 2.

Level 2 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership
(Formerly known as BELA) (18 to 90 years old) This award is for youth workers in youth clubs, scouts, guides, boys & girls brigades, and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award leaders who are over the age of 18. You should have some expedition and camping experience before enrolling on the course. The course enables holders of the award to train people to carry out expeditions safely and with sufficient knowledge to be independent. There are usually 2 courses per year.
